Aprotinin Medical Research Studies

Up-to-date List of Aprotinin Medical Research Studies

What Research is Being Done?

A clinical study involves research using human volunteers (also called participants) that is intended to add to medical knowledge. There are two main types of clinical studies: clinical trials (also called interventional studies) and observational studies. Following list includes both interventional and observational studies.

Latest Aprotinin Medical Research Studies

Rank Status Study
1 Unknown  Aprotinin Use and Renal Outcome in Hypothermic Bypass and Circulatory Arrest for Surgical Repair of Thoracic Aorta.
Condition: Circulatory Arrest
Outcome Measure:
2 Unknown  Effect of Intraoperative Aprotinin Administration on Post Cardiac Surgery Optic Nerve and Retinal Thickness.
Condition: Cardiac Surgery
Intervention: Drug: intraoperative Aprotinin administration
Outcome Measure: optical coherance tomography findings
3 Recruiting Hemostatic and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Ulinastatin and Tranexamic Acid in Cardiopulmonary Bypass Cardiac Surgery
Condition: Hemostasis
Intervention: Drug: UTI & TA
Outcome Measures: Postoperative blood loss(chest drainage);   Perioperative allogeneic transfusions;   Rate of reexploration for bleeding;   Length of stay in ICU and hospital postoperatively;   Coagulatory and fibrinolytic status;   Inflammatory cytokines
4 Recruiting Evaluating the Role of Thrombin in Saphenous Vein Graft Failure After Heart Bypass Surgery
Conditions: Coronary Artery Bypass;   Thrombosis
Outcome Measures: Amplifying the severity of all three risk factors of Virchow's triad is expected to lead to a synergistic increase in regional thrombin formation;   Pressure distention is the main stimulus that creates a loss of thrombin control within the SVG;   Accurate tests of graft quality will be developed that provide rapid results for ready translation into clinical applications;   Aprotinin or bivalirudin will effectively suppress thrombin generation and its effects within the highest risk grafts
5 Recruiting Tranexamic Acid on Blood Loss and Transfusion in Cardiac Surgery
Condition: Hemostasis
Intervention: Drug: Tranexamic Acid
Outcome Measures: Blood loss (chest drainage) postoperatively;   Allogeneic transfusions;   Length of stay in ICU and hospital postoperatively;   Rate of reexploration for hemostasis;   Coagulatory and fibrinolytic status;   Inflammatory cytokines;   Thromboelastography
6 Recruiting Efficacy/Safety of Human Plasminogen Eye Drop in Ligneous Conjunctivitis Patients
Condition: Ligneous Conjunctivitis
Intervention: Biological: Human Plasminogen
Outcome Measures: Number of eyes with recurrent ligneous membranes after initially showing total regression after treatment or after surgical excision.;   Number of eyes with reduction of overall membrane surface area assessed by measurement of scaled photographs at study start and at the end of each 4 week cycle.;   Number of subjects who experience adverse events.;   Number of subjects who develop antibodies against human plasminogen.;   Number of subjects who develop antibodies against bovine Aprotinin.;   Number of subjects who experience signs and symptoms of sensitization.

These studies may lead to new treatments and are adding insight into Aprotinin etiology and treatment.

A major focus of Aprotinin research is the development of new drugs and other treatment options. Studies seek to identify new drugs to treat various related disorders and to find safer, more effective doses for medications already being used. Other research is aimed at identifying receptors or drug targets.
