Staphylococcal Sepsis Medical Research Studies

Up-to-date List of Staphylococcal Sepsis Medical Research Studies

What Research is Being Done?

A clinical study involves research using human volunteers (also called participants) that is intended to add to medical knowledge. There are two main types of clinical studies: clinical trials (also called interventional studies) and observational studies. Following list includes both interventional and observational studies.

Latest Staphylococcal Sepsis Medical Research Studies

Rank Status Study
1 Not yet recruiting Efficacy of IntraVenous ImmunoGlobulins in Toxic Shock Syndromes: a Paediatric Pilot Study
Condition: Toxic Shock Syndrome
Interventions: Drug: Intravenous human immunoglobulin;   Drug: Albumin
Outcome Measures: Recruitment rate;   Compliance with the protocol design;   Practical feasibility;   Financial feasibility;   Evolution of organ failure score (PELOD 2);   Mortality;   Measure of the Cumulative vasopressor index (CVI) .;   Adverse events (AE) and serious AE;   Mechanism of superantigens (ancillary biological study: immune response: HLA-DR, Treg pool);   In vivo mechanism of IVIG (ancillary biological study: Vbêta, Ig dosage);   measure of lactate clearance
2 Recruiting PK of Antistaphylococcal Antibiotics in Infants (NICHD-2012-02-Staph Trio)
Condition: Systemic Infection
Intervention: Drug: Antibiotic
Outcome Measures: Pharmacokinetic concentrations in plasma will be measured at a central lab using a validated bioanalytical assay. Plasma samples will be drawn according to specific schedules for each drug;   Safety review will be performed through monitoring of adverse events each day that the infant is on study
3 Recruiting Treatment Algorithm to Reduce the Use of Vancomycin in Adults With Blood Stream Infection
Condition: Bacteremia
Intervention: Drug: Vancomycin
Outcome Measures: Compare cure rate between algorithm and standard of care therapy;   Evaluate safety of algorithm-based therapy;   Antibiotic days by treatment group
4 Recruiting A Phase 3 Telavancin Staph Aureus Bacteremia Trial
Condition: Bacteremia
Interventions: Drug: Telavancin;   Drug: Vancomycin;   Drug: Daptomycin;   Drug: Synthetic penicillin;   Drug: Cefazolin
Outcome Measures: Clinical response (success or failure);   Development of new metastatic foci of infection;   Clearance of bacteremia

These studies may lead to new treatments and are adding insight into Staphylococcal Sepsis etiology and treatment.

A major focus of Staphylococcal Sepsis research is the development of new drugs and other treatment options. Studies seek to identify new drugs to treat various related disorders and to find safer, more effective doses for medications already being used. Other research is aimed at identifying receptors or drug targets.
