Women and men have many of the same health problems, but they can affect women differently. For example, women may have different symptoms of heart disease. Some diseases or conditions are more common in women, such as osteoarthritis, obesity and depression. And some conditions, such as menopause and pregnancy, are unique to women.

Women sometimes neglect their own health and focus instead on their partner's and their children's. Take care of yourself first:

Voting Question: Whats going on down there? (sex/womens health)?
Link - Fri, 17 May 2013 03:12:01 GMT - Email The Author
Description: So i'm 18 and I just started having sex a little over a month ago. Both me and my boyfriend were both inexperienced before so theres no chance of std's. I usually get my period pretty regularly but since I started having sex I have not gotten my period and am about 6-8 days late right now (the length of my cycle varies). All the times we had sex he pulled out before he came and we used a condom and checked it after to make sure it didnt break and just to be sure I even tried calculating the days I ovulated so I wouldnt have sex those days. Just to be sure 2-3 after my missed period I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. I read online somewhere that sex can mess up your cycle and make you miss or delay periods but i'm not really sure if this is true. Today my boyfriend started fingering me and after a bit when he took his hand out it was covered in blood. I was sure I had gotten my period. But after than initial rush no more blood has come but instead a ton of clear discharge and it feels a little weird when I pee (kinda hurts a little). Im freaking out a little about what's going on down there. Could he have hurt me down there even though I didnt feel any pain? Or did i get my period? Could sex really make me late? Could I be pregnant? If anyone has any insight it would greatly be appreciated.

Resolved Question: Why is that "A Woman's Body is her own" and not for others?
Link - Thu, 16 May 2013 22:19:13 GMT - Email The Author
Description: A female prostitute and a male soldier are the exact same thing, a slave. But in American Society, only one side receives support from the general public. In Western society the value of lives of males is less than that of females. Males are oppressed, and have been trained to kill and to be killed for thousands and thousands of years. Males are also bound to provider ship roles while females are protected by society and enjoy better health. When will females bear the full weight of societal burden? And enlist in selective service, instead of Radical Feminist groups arguing for a "Female President" that has not been earned?

Voting Question: Tips for waxing the backs of my own legs?
Link - Thu, 16 May 2013 19:48:53 GMT - Email The Author
Description: I got sick of shaving every day (I'm Mediterranean so sadly I have very dark hair...) so I started waxing, which has been so much better as I only have to do it once every couple of weeks, but I still really struggle with doing the backs of my thighs - I just simply can't bend that far!!! Any tips please??? Much appreciated (Also, I know it's not exactly 'Womens Health' but I figured putting this in the category with statistically the most women would be my best chance of getting an answer!)

Resolved Question: Is it odd that people once thought women have a higher pain threshold?
Link - Mon, 06 May 2013 01:49:27 GMT - Email The Author
Description: I could put a woman in pain by telling her she is fat. Now that's as sensitive as you can get.. Butz childbirth! It's liek pushing a watermelon out of your penis...for starters childbirth isn't supposed to be painful. Women who think otherwise think that it's something unnatural or wrong. That's what pain signals indicate. And secondly, on top of that, substances are naturally released in the brain to make a woman feel better.

Resolved Question: Feminists:How do you feel about fat feminism?
Link - Sun, 05 May 2013 04:33:48 GMT - Email The Author
Description: It's a new form of feminism which arose out of third wave of feminism which pretty much proclaims that fat women are especially oppressed by the patriarchy. Some core beliefs are Men don't date fat women because of the beauty standards created by male patriarchs in the media to create a hierarchy of females for men to subjugate. If the "beauty industry" didn't exist, every man would have no problem dating fat women. We've been "socialized" to hate fat women That fat women should be afforded the same sexual power as women I checked out some blogs(thisisthinprivilege, bigfatfeminist) and the posts are mostly about how fat women don't have of wide of a dating pool and how this is proof of fat womens oppression.Basically the equivalent to the guys who rant about how they can't laid on the internet. http://thisisthinprivilege.tumblr.com/post/47257602682/i-just-saw-a-textpost-that-said-why-are#notes http://thisisthinprivilege.tumblr.com/post/43756162176/dating-websites-are-easier-when-youre-thin#notes that** "Thin privilege is being able to go on a dating website and not have to exclude 90% of the people whose profiles you view because your body type is not listed as a preference." Really Rawr?I can find 10 posts like that... heres more http://thisisthinprivilege.tumblr.com/post/27510886969/not-ok-cupid-not-ok Rawr:what you describe is part of the fat acceptance movement,i'm talking strictly about fat feminism. Rawr:what you describe is part of the fat acceptance movement,i'm talking strictly about fat feminism. Jess:Patriarichy is not a conspiracy theory? So the belief that upper class men(patriarchy) were conscious collaborators with lower men to create a hierarchy of male power for millennial is NOT a conspiracy theory?LOL. patriachs** lower class** Millenia** Why are you back peddling?Patriarchy theory is rooted in the idea that powerful men used weaker men to oppress women in order to create a hegemony.

Resolved Question: Feeling emotionless after rape?
Link - Fri, 03 May 2013 07:24:50 GMT - Email The Author
Description: So in the beginning(the rape happened 5 weeks or so ago with my now ex-bf)I was just sick to my stomach about the whole thing after he broke it off. For me when I'm upset I show it, not to people but myself. I cry. The fact that I haven't cried and am feeling so detached from everyone. Like a co worker hurt her back and last time she did I was so sad for her and I got her flowers etc. This time I knew I was suppose to be sad but I couldn't express that emotion. It was just nothing. I am changing, and I don't know what to do about it. I really don't feel any emotion. Is this a mental coping mechanism? Anyone else have this happen? I work retail so I'm with customers all day. I am usually so personable and I form connections with others easily. I find myself not being able to do that anymore.

Resolved Question: How can I get a pap smear since I'm under 21?
Link - Thu, 02 May 2013 14:49:44 GMT - Email The Author
Description: I've had one in the past which turned up positive for something which I took meds for and it went away. But right after I took the meds I had sex with my now husband (about a year ago) and It would make it more secure to have another test. My doctor told me I had to be 21. Also even before i started having sex, I've had vaginal problems so its hard to tell what's normal and what's not.

Resolved Question: Am i taking too many vitamins or how long can i take these?
Link - Thu, 02 May 2013 01:21:27 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Ive been battling bv or bacterial vaginosis for two years. The reason is an imbalance in good an dbad bacteria. I tried all the meds and all the tips and visited six gynos. Then i started acidophillus with one hundred million active bacteria taking it twice a day. It helped a tiny bit. Then i added in vitamin e at 400iu once. Day. This helped a lot. Then i read hundreds of womens stories who said folic.acid helped and.others who said garlic restored their vaginal health. I decided to add in both. The folic acid is 400 mg and the garlic is 1000 mg. I was taking all of them for two or thrwe days then started taking acidophillis and vitamin e one day then took folic acid and garlic the next. Ive done.that for four days. Ive noticex extreme improvement. But is this too much?? Can i take all of them everyday? I would like to.try it. Ive also noticed ironiy i can breathe better. Anyway is it safe to take all four of these daily for two to four weeks?

Resolved Question: Would feminists finally be satisfied with this scenario?
Link - Mon, 29 Apr 2013 15:15:35 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Imagine decades and decades into the future, and feminism is still going strong. They have now manages to get the following under the law: - Free health care for women ONLY, men have to pay - A man is automatically jailed when a woman accuses him of rape, with no trial, no jury and no lawyer at all - If a man look at a woman in a way that she doesn't like, that counts as rape - Female college students get free tuition and and automatic scholarship of 20,000 a year - If a woman initiates a divorce, she automatically gets awarded $100,000 from the man as well as his house. In the event of a home loan or rent, the man must continue to pay it. If the man does not have 100,000 he must pay it in weekly installments. - 100% of health care funds have been directed to womens health, and the death gap between men and women has risen to 10 years - Every single CEO position is filled by a woman, and it's illegal for men to apply for such positions - All men must hand over x% of their income, as a "Male Tax" which goes towards funding most of the above subsudies Would feminists be satisfied? Would they finally say that the battle is over and they've achieved "equality"? Or would they still continue to campaign for more privileges for women? If so, what else do you think they could campaign for? I smell some liars on this thread.

Resolved Question: My friends are cutting themselves and depressed?
Link - Thu, 25 Apr 2013 15:12:11 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Chloe is only 13 years old and she hates herself, her life and her family. She has been cutting herself because her relationship between her family members isn't good. Also, she might be cutting herself because she likes this boy but he doesn't like her back, and also because Jackie is cutting herself too (for no reason) and she might be copying her. Our friends and I have been talking to her and trying to give her advice on how to vent out her anger instead of cutting herself, but she's not listening at all. It's like she's looking right through us. She's acting like this is a game. Recently, Jackie cut through a vain when she was cutting her wrist, and fainted and sent to the hospital. She said that if the school told her parents that she cut herself she would suicide. But of course the school has to. Who's gonna pay the medical bills? I'm scared that they're gonna do something stupid together. They mean a lot to me, it's just that they're making really bad choices. I'm scared and confused and I cried myself to sleep last night. The fact that they might take their life any moment right now as I'm typing to you scares me. What do I do?

Resolved Question: How do women "have it easier"?
Link - Sun, 21 Apr 2013 21:11:47 GMT - Email The Author
Description: I've heard others say that women have it easier. How? The only places where women get off easier is in family court over the question of custody (which, I agree is unfair to good dads). Women still face sexism in the workplace, we still get paid less (look it up if you don't believe me) and there are still forms of sexism in modern society. Please just help me to understand the logic behind "Women have it easier."

Resolved Question: What will happen if someone reports questions just because they dont believe them?
Link - Sun, 21 Apr 2013 20:17:33 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Im 21 and had my tubes tied last year because I don't want kids and Im sick of birth control. Where I live the youngest a female can have them tied is 18. Its free if they have insurance otherwise its 1000 dollars. In the womens health section I explained that then asked if doctors do yearly scans to make sure the tubes are still tied. I needed to know because its almost been a year. I got a few helpful answers and one that said "you're lying, no doctor will do that to a 21 year old with no kids. This question is fake." Then a few minutes after his answer, my question got reported and deleted. I know it was from him. I was seeking help and some dude reports me and gets my question deleted just because he thinks Im lying. What will happen to him in return for doing that?

Resolved Question: How come the only rude answers I get are from Top Contributors?
Link - Sun, 21 Apr 2013 17:09:59 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Im one myself but I love helping people especially in the womens health section. But in my experience of asking questions and getting 10-20 answers, the only rude troll answer I got was only from a top Contributor. The regular answerers were nice polite and helpful and didn't cuss nor call names etc. How come the rude ones tend to mostly be the top Contributors? How do they even become one from trolling so much? I became one the right/helpful way by the way.

Resolved Question: Help me with my weight?
Link - Wed, 17 Apr 2013 02:09:12 GMT - Email The Author
Description: Hey girls! The only reason this question is on womens health is because you know how this feels. I am 14, and am supposed to start my period soon. Well, when I get home from school about a week before I start my period, I crave literally EVERYTHING.I find myself eating 2 pancakes, bananas, granola bars, toast, and candy when I get home. And its like I am always hungry, and I never stop eating. This happens for a week before my period but not during. So basically, I have 7 days of having an excuse of being a total pig at home. I am 5'7" and weigh about 140-145 pounds. (Yes, my BMI is like 21.8). I have always had a weight goal. I have always wanted to weigh around 135. Its not much but I cant do that with my parents hovering over me. After eating all this, about an hour later, I cannot eat dinner. When I dont eat dinner or I just pick at it, my parents think I am starving myself. But I am not! Its just that I eat too much before dinner causing me to be full. So my question is: what do you girls do to make youself stop eating junk before and during your period! Thanks in advance!
