Dilaudid Cardio-respiratory Arrest Causes and Reviews

The heart has an internal electrical system that controls the rhythm of the heartbeat. Problems can cause abnormal heart rhythms, called arrhythmias. There are many types of arrhythmia. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast, too slow, or it can stop beating. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) occurs when the heart develops an arrhythmia that causes it to stop beating. This is different than a heart attack, where the heart usually continues to beat but blood flow to the heart is blocked.

There are many possible causes of SCA. They include coronary heart disease, physical stress, and some inherited disorders. Sometimes there is no known cause for the SCA.

Without medical attention, the person will die within a few minutes. People are less likely to die if they have early defibrillation. Defibrillation sends an electric shock to restore the heart rhythm to normal. You should give cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a person having SCA until defibrillation can be done.

If you have had an SCA, an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) reduces the chance of dying from a second SCA.

Dilaudid Cardio-respiratory Arrest Reviews

I have an interthecal pain pump that gives me 10 mg of Dilaudid every 24 hours contstant. I have severe swelling and edema of the lower legs and feet. Is this a normal side effect of this medication? My medication was recently changed from Morphine to Dilaudid, but the swelling didn't start until about 4 weeks after the change. I have had an ultrasound to rule out blood clots in my legs and those tests came back normal. Please help. Thanks.

On two separate occasions my side effects included; Horrible angry and or frustrating dreams that I felt trapped in for long periods of time, but when I was able to pull myself out of the dream only 4-5 minutes would have passed. I would fall instantly back to sleep and the whole cycle would start over again. While in the dream state I wanted to talk, to ask for help or scream for help yet for some reason my mouth would not open, and not a sound would come out. At other times, especially while in the ER I feel anxious and really frightened about some thing that is happening to and around me. I hear conversations going on about me and my condition and I want to speak up before they do something bad to me. I feel like I am telling all of them but no one hears me. My eyes are closed and they think I am asleep, but I am talking to them and they are talking amongst each other. It is like something out of the twlight zone. I have asked my husband afterwords if I was saying anything and he says no. These dream states continue for as long as the Delaudid is in my system, could just be 6-8 hours or could be for days at a time. I wonder if other people have experienced these terrors.
