ARRHYTHMIA Symptoms and Causes

An Arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of your heartbeat. It means that your heart beats too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular pattern. When the heart beats faster than normal, it is called tachycardia. When the heart beats too slowly, it is called bradycardia. The most common type of Arrhythmia is atrial fibrillation, which causes an irregular and fast heart beat.

Many factors can affect your heart's rhythm, such as having had a heart attack, smoking, congenital heart defects, and stress. Some substances or medicines may also cause Arrhythmias.

Symptoms of Arrhythmias include

  • Fast or slow heart beat
  • Skipping beats
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sweating

Your doctor can run tests to find out if you have an Arrhythmia. Treatment to restore a normal heart rhythm may include medicines, an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) or pacemaker, or sometimes surgery.

Has anyone had any side effects when taking amoxicillin with Tikosyn?

I have a pacemaker because of bradycardia. I have been keeping a note on my ectopic beats and find that eating causes a lot. On waking and eating breakfast can cause an arrythmia, too much sugar or sweet foods also can cause this. I went to

I have been on Tikosyn (500mg 2X/day) for a month and have experienced similar side effects as Janet in Oklahoma. Specifically weight gain and joint pain and stiffness.

I have congestive heart failure and I'm sick of it all so when I have arrhythmias now, I punch myself in the chest and it seems to help. I wonder if a person goes into cardiac arrest and stick your finger in a 220 amp if that would help too?

I started Tikosyn 3 days ago. I stayed in hospital as per the instructions regarding usage of this drug. I suffered no side-effects and my correct dosage - 500 mg twice daily in my case - was safely established.

I'm on a regimen of Tikosyn, 25mg twice a day. I came to Europe, decided to stay and extra week which means I'll need more Tikosyn. I had someone ship it to me with all the necessary papers and it's stuck in custom in Frankfurt. So...is the

ARRHYTHMIA Clinical Trials and Studies

Treatments might be new drugs or new combinations of drugs, new surgical procedures or devices, or new ways to use existing treatments. The goal of clinical trials is to determine if a new test or treatment works and is safe. Clinical trials can also look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. People participate in clinical trials for a variety of reasons. Healthy volunteers say they participate to help others and to contribute to moving science forward. Participants with an illness or disease also participate to help others, but also to possibly receive the newest treatment and to have the additional care and attention from the clinical trial staff.
