PRURITUS Symptoms and Causes

What is itching?

Itching is an irritating sensation that makes you want to scratch your skin. Sometimes it can feel like pain, but it is different. Often, you feel itchy in one area in your body, but sometimes you may feel itching all over. Along with the itching, you may also have a rash or hives.

What causes itching?

Itching is a symptom of many health conditions. Some common causes are

 • Allergic reactions to food, insect bites, pollen, and medicines
 • Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dry skin
 • Irritating chemicals, cosmetics, and other substances
 • Parasites such as pinworms, scabies, head and body lice
 • Pregnancy
 • Liver, kidney, or thyroid diseases
 • Certain cancers or cancer treatments
 • Diseases that can affect the nervous system, such as diabetes and shingles
What are the treatments for itching?

Most itching is not serious. To feel better, you could try

 • Applying cold compresses
 • Using moisturizing lotions
 • Taking lukewarm or oatmeal baths
 • Using over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream or antihistamines
 • Avoiding scratching, wearing irritating fabrics, and exposure to high heat and humidity

Contact your health care provider if your itching is severe, does not go away after a few weeks, or does not have an apparent cause. You may need other treatments, such as medicines or light therapy. If you have an underlying disease that is causing the itching, treating that disease may help.

Can ratio-citalopram be taken long term with Lectopam 6 mg?

Celexa triggered my tourettes syndrome. Three weeks after starting this med, I started having motor and vocal tics. Do not advise anyone to take this drug. It sucks.

I developed a rash on all extremities that itches like crazy. People started commenting that I had goose bumps all the time and I been taking Benicar for about 1 month exactly before the rash appeared.

I need to find out if Celexa is available in Ecuador as I will be living there for several months. Thanks.

I Took celexa for about 7 years im a 28 year old male. A couple months after getting off of the drug I have been twitching all over my body. Feet, legs, thighs, arms, stomach, hands, face, everywhere. I also have this feeling of a lump stuck in my throat.

It probably didn't trigger your TS. It was probably just supressing symptoms to a point where they were un noticable. Celexa is something they use to help alleviate the symptoms. so when you came off of it, they came back. They could have developed w

The itching is called pruritus & is a common side effect associated with StrongOpiate inegstion. Although if you are scratching, as bad as stated I would stay away from the meds as best you can & inform your doctor. Although

PRURITUS Clinical Trials and Studies

Treatments might be new drugs or new combinations of drugs, new surgical procedures or devices, or new ways to use existing treatments. The goal of clinical trials is to determine if a new test or treatment works and is safe. Clinical trials can also look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. People participate in clinical trials for a variety of reasons. Healthy volunteers say they participate to help others and to contribute to moving science forward. Participants with an illness or disease also participate to help others, but also to possibly receive the newest treatment and to have the additional care and attention from the clinical trial staff.
