Lantus Hypoglycaemia Causes and Reviews

Hypoglycemia means low blood glucose, or blood sugar. Your body needs glucose to have enough energy. After you eat, your blood absorbs glucose. If you eat more sugar than your body needs, your muscles, and liver store the extra. When your blood sugar begins to fall, a hormone tells your liver to release glucose.

In most people, this raises blood sugar. If it doesn't, you have hypoglycemia, and your blood sugar can be dangerously low. Signs include

  • Hunger
  • Shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Feeling anxious or weak

In people with diabetes, hypoglycemia is often a side effect of diabetes medicines. Eating or drinking something with carbohydrates can help. If it happens often, your health care provider may need to change your treatment plan.

You can also have low blood sugar without having diabetes. Causes include certain medicines or diseases, hormone or enzyme deficiencies, and tumors. Laboratory tests can help find the cause. The kind of treatment depends on why you have low blood sugar.

Lantus Hypoglycaemia Reviews

Tue, 09 Feb 2010

Lantus is nt working for me atall, sometimes it will be extremely potent leading to a horrible kind of feeling of blood sugar levels being pushed down. other times it will work the other way and be useless and ineffective. I'm currently trying to get on an insulin pump. I have found out that Lantus is a different ph to the rest of the boy which is clearly going to have some side effects! that is unbelivably obvious! yet why is it still being pushed onto patients. I'm not saying levemir is any better, the best alternative sounds to me like the way insulin pumps send small pulses of rapid acting insulin into the blood every 5 minuets, mimicking the way a normal pancreas would work and making it easier to adjust when things go wrng as opposed to being "stuck" with a certain amount of insulin in your body the moment you inject it.
