Lisinopril Cough Causes and Reviews

Coughing is a reflex that keeps your throat and airways clear. Although it can be annoying, Coughing helps your body heal or protect itself. Coughs can be either acute or chronic. Acute Coughs begin suddenly and usually last no more than 2 to 3 weeks. Acute Coughs are the kind you most often get with a cold, flu, or acute bronchitis. Chronic Coughs last longer than 2 to 3 weeks. Causes of chronic Cough include

  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
  • Smoking
  • Throat disorders, such as croup in young children
  • Some medicines

Water can help ease your Cough - whether you drink it or add it to the air with a steamy shower or vaporizer. If you have a cold or the flu, antihistamines may work better than non-prescription Cough medicines. Children under four should not have Cough medicine. For children over four, use caution and read labels carefully.

I am on Lisinopril for years now and I have a Cough that comes, and stays for months and then it will clear up for a few months then back again. I also have a severe itchy throat, with the Cough and then when I Cough my head off my eyes water like no tomorrow, then the nasal congestion comes. Has anyone else had these side effects? I would like to know because I think the Lisinopril is causing these problems.

Got the dry Cough, about 3 times a day, 5 minutes at a time. Does it cause longer for bruises to heal? Does seem to work good on BP. Worried about other things that may crop up. Mark

Started taking Lisinopril and am so tired; sleeping 12 hours a night and even sometimes 15. Believe with the weakness and also the constant Cough, I should go off this medication. My blood pressure was borderline and do not think I need it to begin with. *DONT_KNOW*

I've been taking Lisinopril for a couple of years, but now I have this wheeze in my chest and it makes me Cough. Sometimes I can spit up yellow thick mucous. I have asthma, and it's not an asthma attack, rather an annoying rattle in my lungs that isn't going away and I'm becoming worried about it. Also, I take the generic for Singulair. Don't have health insurance right now because I'm in-between jobs but I need to get to the bottom of this one way on another. Any input?
