Listerine Malaise Causes and Reviews

What is chronic fatigue syndrome?

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a serious, long-term illness that affects many body systems. Another name for it is myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). CFS can often make you unable to do your usual activities. Sometimes you may not even be able to get out of bed.

What causes chronic fatigue syndrome?

Scientists don't know what causes CFS. There may be more than one thing that causes it. It is possible that two or more triggers might work together to cause the illness.

Who is at risk for chronic fatigue syndrome?

Anyone can get CFS, but it is most common in people between 40 and 60 years old. Adult women have it more often that adult men. Whites are more likely than other races to get a diagnosis of CFS, but many people with CFS have not been diagnosed with it.

What are the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome?

CFS symptoms can include

  • Severe fatigue that is not improved by rest
  • Sleep problems
  • Post-exertional Malaise (PEM), where your symptoms get worse after any physical or mental activity
  • Problems with thinking and concentrating
  • Pain
  • Dizziness

CFS can be unpredictable. Your symptoms may come and go. They may change over time - sometimes they might get better, and other times they may get worse.

How is chronic fatigue syndrome diagnosed?

CFS can be difficult to diagnose. There are no tests for it, and other illnesses can cause similar symptoms. Your health care provider has to rule out other diseases before making a diagnosis of CFS. He or she will do a thorough medical exam, including

  • Asking about your medical history and your family's medical history
  • Asking about your current illness, including your symptoms. Your doctor will want to know how often you have symptoms, how bad they are, how long they have lasted, and how they affect your life.
  • A thorough physical and mental status exam
  • Blood, urine or other tests
What are the treatments for chronic fatigue syndrome?

There is no cure or approved treatment for CFS, but you may be able to treat or manage some of your symptoms. You, your family, and your health care provider should work together to decide on a plan. You should figure out which symptom causes the most problems, and try to treat that first. For example, if sleep problems affect you the most, you might first try using good sleep habits. If those do not help, you may need to take medicines or see a sleep specialist.

Strategies such as learning new ways to manage activity can also be helpful. You need to make sure that you do not "push and crash." This can happen when you feel better, do too much, and then get worse again.

Since the process of developing a treatment plan and attending to self-care can be hard if you have CFS, it is important to have support from family members and friends.

Don't try any new treatments without talking to your health care provider. Some treatments that are promoted as cures for CFS are unproven, often costly, and could be dangerous.

Thu, 19 Jan 2012

On the first use itself i felt sme burning sensation in my mouth and the lower lip become reddened and swollen.

Wed, 25 Jan 2012

I burned my mouth so bad with Listerine Whitening Mouthwash. I rinsed my mouth out immediately with water to get all of the mouthwash out and threw the Listerine away. It really hurt. Now, I'm having issues with my mouth and it has been at least 5 weeks. I have that burned tongue feeling. I believe it caused some real damage to my mouth. My saliva seems less and my mouth gets dry. Also, it seems like the glands under the back of my tongue ot a little inflamed. Pretty scary now. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I'm very nervous :(

Sun, 16 Feb 2014

I used Listerine Total Care Zero a few hours ago and instantly lost my sense of taste. The inside of my mouth and tongue are now sore and very dry. I'm very uncomfortable right now and am not sure what to do to alleviate my discomort. So frustrated!

Tue, 24 Jan 2012

I have been using Listerine Total Care plus whitening for a month or more. I have recently noticed a loss of taste. I am stopping the use of this product today!

Sat, 14 Sep 2013

I've been using Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush rinse for about five days. It burns so bad in my mouth, I can only swish for about 10 seconds and then spit it out, rather than the 60 seconds the instructions recommend. Although my teeth do look a little whiter, the skin on my lips has started burning and peeling off. My lips feel sore, and are swollen and itchy. It's like after I've had a bad sunburn on my lips, but this is not a sunburn. I can just peel strips of skin off my lips. I'm not using this product anymore. Slightly whiter teeth but burns my mouth terribly. This product is too harsh!

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

My wife and I started using Listerine a month ago, thinking it would be good as a mouthwash. We both started getting ulcers at the same time. Its been 3 days since we both stopped, and the ulcers are disappearing as well. Clearly, Listerine is dangerous, too many chemicals in it. It should be taken off the shelves of all supermarkets.

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

do you feel better now ?
I have the same symptoms and I'm a bit worry

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

I'm 16 and recieved a small bottle from my dentist, I decieded to use it thinking I might like it. It hurt so bad! the taste buds on my tongue got oversized and looked like the might have popped! I woke up this morning and I can't taste anything, not salt, sugar, things spicey. NOTHING. I can only feel my food. I don't have pain anymore, but this product needs to be recalled its dangerous.
