Lyrica Convulsion Causes and Reviews
Seizures are symptoms of a brain problem. They happen because of sudden, abnormal electrical activity in the brain. When people think of seizures, they often think of Convulsions in which a person's body shakes rapidly and uncontrollably. Not all seizures cause Convulsions. There are many types of seizures and some have mild symptoms. Seizures fall into two main groups. Focal seizures, also called partial seizures, happen in just one part of the brain. Generalized seizures are a result of abnormal activity on both sides of the brain.
Most seizures last from 30 seconds to 2 minutes and do not cause lasting harm. However, it is a medical emergency if seizures last longer than 5 minutes or if a person has many seizures and does not wake up between them. Seizures can have many causes, including medicines, high fevers, head injuries and certain diseases. People who have recurring seizures due to a brain disorder have epilepsy.

I am a 27 year old male who has been on Lyrica for about a year now. I firmly believ Lyrica has lowered my IQ. My first month taking it I would walk into car doors and one I even fell in the shower. I have an Accounting degree and graduated with a 3.7 from a state university. I have complained about thr side effects to my wife my doctor and even my mother but nobody seems to think they are as profound as I. I know how fast I used to get things and how quick I was when it came to conversation. Now I have a hard time remembering things, like big words or people's names. I know I over compensate but others don't because I still sound intelligent. I know I'm haven't truly been dumbed down but I do have worries as you do that when I come off it nothing will change. I'm currently dealing with a bad doctor who prescribed me this among a few other things and has literally left town. So tomorrow I'll be searching for a doc to ween me off. The benefits were great but I was better off without thr meds. I'll be honest I've never felt a medicine so powerful but in such a weird way. It's like what I would assume light brain damage would be like. My wife now thinks I'm ADD. I'll report back if you'd like my weenin off. In my humble opinion I would have a talk with your doctor and maybe even get a secon opinion. Lyrica is a new drug but it's class isn't. The literature is all over the place on it right now but the patients all say what I'm saying and what you are reporting. I don't think a young man as your son should be on this. He won't remember high school if he does. I have had a hard time remembering yesterday with it. Hope this helps. Im praying I come out unscathed. I never thought I'd be one of those medicine law suit people but if this thing messes with me I wouldn't hesitate.

i'm trying to cut back after a 30lb weight gain, memory haze-loss, and feeling so dumb and having my eyes so blurry I can't read my books-, but I need this drug it helps my Fibromyalgia (FM), there has to be a happy medium I can't stand this I"ve been on the drug since it came out and I've been diagnosed with FM since it was acknowledged as a illness-for me '92 I related so much to FRM0084 when he spoke of "not knowing the bog words". It's easy to bluff with people for short term or people who don't know you I just turned 64 and because things start going down hill normally form here I wrote a letter and sent to all my friends explaining all my problems I was having and if it happened with them to please understnad (alot was about what FM was caused too) Nancy I'm so sorry about your daughter. Don't let them get away with it!

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter -it must be devastating! My 60 year old husband was recently, mistakenly, prescribed double the manufacturers recommended maximum dose of pregabalin (Lyrica). For four months he endured severe side effects, until the mistake was finally discovered! We are now in the process of taking legal action.

My sons pain specialist put him on Lyrica at the age of 16.5 even though the litriature sais that Lyrica has not been deemed safe for use on patients under 18 years , My son has not had Lyrica for 20 months and still has significant concentration and memory problems and complains that he does not feel well and just wants his brain back . I firmly believe that Lyrica has caused him brain damage as he was sharp as a tack despite pain before he took Lyrica and since has not been right . My questions is , is it normal for Doctors to prescribe Lyrica under the age of 18 agains the manufacturers advice and is he likely to ever recover from this obcene drug ? i am very worried he has been damaged for life .

I've taken Lyrica for PHN for 11 months. I've tapered from 150mg to 75mg to 50mg to 25mg. I'm on the 4th day of zero dosage and I immediately developed both upper and lower respiratory issues, including copious amounts of green, even brown mucus from my sinuses and lungs. Any advice is greatly valued.

|I have had many of the problems reported here after being on Lyrica. I am also experiencing symptoms of thyroid problems and will follow up with my doctor. Has anyone here had thyroid issues, and if so, do these clear with time? Thanks. What a horrible horrible experience. I can't believe with so many patients having such a horrendous experience that they are allowed to dispense Lyrica.|
