I have previously been working in Congo for 2 years and is currently in Zambia for the last two and a half years. I have been using Malanil tablets for most of this time to prevent Malaria, I have not contracted Malaria at all ,and have had no side effects. Can long term use of this drug cause any harm to a person.

Have taken Malanil as a prophylactic for numerous short visits to Malaria areas throughout Africa, one tab per day, plus 7 dyas after visit. I have never experienced any side effects other than when taken on an empty stomach in which instance I suffered short term nausea.

Best of the lot I have taken Larrium / methlequoine - terrible rather take my chances with Malaria Dioxcyclin not bad but taking it for a month after returning is painful Malianil only have to take for a week after returning only side effect for me is that I get a bit cantankerous near the end of the course
