Metronidazole Muscular Weakness Causes and Reviews

Myasthenia gravis is a disease that causes weakness in your voluntary muscles. These are the muscles that you control. For example, you may have weakness in the muscles for eye movement, facial expressions, and swallowing. You can also have weakness in other muscles. This weakness gets worse with activity, and better with rest.

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease. Your body's immune system makes antibodies that block or change some of the nerve signals to your muscles. This makes your muscles weaker.

Other conditions can cause muscle weakness, so myasthenia gravis can be hard to diagnose. Tests used to make a diagnosis include blood, nerve, muscle, and imaging tests.

With treatment, the muscle weakness often gets much better. Medicines can help improve nerve-to-muscle messages and make muscles stronger. Other drugs keep your body from making so many abnormal antibodies. These medicines can have major side effects, so they should be used carefully. There are also treatments which filter abnormal antibodies from the blood or add healthy antibodies from donated blood. Sometimes, surgery to take out the thymus gland helps.

Some people with myasthenia gravis go into remission. This means that they do not have symptoms. The remission is usually temporary, but sometimes it can be permanent.

Describe Your Metronidazole Experience Here: after taking a total of 4 pills, 1 first day 2 second day and 1 in third day. I had symptoms begin on that second day. There was tingling in my lips with burning in my lips and tongue. The next day they look swollen. My ear was all congested, around opening of nose it burns and I have nasal congestion and runny. My eye lid swelled up and I have a confirmed bacterial infection in eye.(may be related to meds) eye dr wouldn't say. Doctor who out me on meds told me not to take anymore, so I'm waiting for these symptoms to go away. How long after meds are stopped will symptoms go away? I've had alot of symptoms some common some not so.

I am deeply indebted to Danny Smith with his comments about Metronidazole. I was also prescribed Metronidazole for a tooth complaint and after experiencing dizziness and being very unwell with nausea, happened to find his remarks on the net. After taking each tablet my symptoms increased and finally searched the net for some information. I immediately stopped my medication and alerted my Dr who has prescribed anti nausea pills and amoxycillin which have settled my symptoms and the infection has reduced in anticipation of root canals to be performed in a couple of days.
