I was recently released from the hospital because of chest pains and was perscribed the pill called Meloxicam to help, because I was told I was chest wall inflammation. Not a heart issue. But my concern is that after I took the first dose today, I read the warning label what said that it can increase the chances of having a heart attack. My concern is that I was prescribed something that increases the chance of having, it, what should I do? I've already taken it, should I be concerned? My Rabbit (3 years 11 months) had 2 tear duct infections/ blocks and had went into the vets on the 10th of May to get them flushed, he was slightly off his food on the 9th of May. the vet managed to do the first 1 awake but then he wouldn't have it so he had a general. I am allergic to any combination of acetaminophen from three years old so I take ibuprofen. I am suffering from ankylosing spondylitis and sjogren's sydrome. So I started track about 6 weeks ago, and I'm a sprinter. I play another varsity sport, so I'm not out of shape or anything at all, but I've had really bad shin splints basically since the season started and they haven't gone away at all, but that's kinda irrelevant. I saw a doctor because the muscle on my calf seemed to be bulging out of my leg, and he prescribed me an anti-inflammatory (Meloxicam) that I've been taking ever since.I've been hurdling for the past month (110 high hurdles) and really the only thing that was bothering me was my shins. Timeline... Early January, pain started. Passed it off as sleeping on it wrong. 2 weeks later went to my Dr, X-rays normal, prescribed steroids. 2 weeks later followed up with a specialist. Again x rays normal, said shoulder was inflamed. Gave cortisone injection, and RX for meloxicam. Now I'm out of the meds, which didnt work and still have the pain. I'm 17 a female and I have ibs and gerd but I don't really think that's the problem right now. On Sunday I was extremely hungry ESPECIALLY after I ate which has been going on for a few weeks now. Then after my dinner digested around 1030pm on Sunday, I got a REALLY bad ache in my actual stomach high up under my sternum. I took 1 15mg tablet of meloxicam which was prescribed to me for similar pain I was hospitalized for in February which concluded no diagnosis only a rule out of appendicitis and other health risks. The meloxicam usually helps within 10 minutes of swallowing it but it didn't do ANYTHING it just made it worse (I did take it with food). It's a horrible feeling like somebody is twisting my insides up in the complete midsection of my stomach, under my stomach, and radiating to my back. I was prescribed 5 days of Prednisone 40mg daily then went to Meloxicam 20mg daily ( this is to treat chronic tendonitis in both hands and arms). After one month the meloxicam did not manage my pain as I'd hoped. I realize this is an anti inflammatory but was told it had a pain killer in it too. I then was placed on another 5 days of Prednisone 40 mg daily then went to diclofenac 100mg daily (2 50 mg pills per day). This is day two of being on diclofenac and I have been nautious and very sick to my stomach all day. I'm also still having some inflammation and pain with this. I asked the vet for some pain killers so that she doesn't hurt as much. Then I researched the drug since I am used to giving dog pain killer PILLS. I read that it was not tested properly and can kill dogs very easily in a matter of DAYS. It is a DEATH sentence for CATS. I was told to make it 20ml since she weighs 22lbs... This morning I woke up with overwhelming nausea and period cramps. The cramps weren't too bad so I dealt and took two advil. I also didn't have my period yet. It wasn't until September that this pain had now moved to my fingers and wrists (pretty decent pain while typing this) and even in my elbows. I went to the doctor in October when the finger pain got so severe i could hardly motion to twist a coke cap. And the pain in my toes was terrible. She ran blood tests,all normal,hand xrays (also normal). She put me on meloxicam i think and i took it a couple days but stopped because it gave me no pain relief and i have a factor v leiden blood clotting disease so to me since it was doing nothing i stopped taking it because of the risks. She told me if it didnt get better or i wanted she would send me to a rheumatologist. The pain did subside for a couple of weeks but has come back since then. I'm 16, 17 in two weeks, I'm a female and ever since I was 14 I have been getting SEVERE stomach pain and upset! I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy 2 years ago and they diagnosed me with just IBS and acid reflux because my insides looked fine and all the biopsies were normal. So I've just been dealing with the stomach pain. NO antacid medication works whether it's OTC or prescription. On February 15 of this year, I was in the ER with HORRIBLE stomach pain in my upper actual stomach and the same pain in my upper back. It would come in waves or "spasms" and on a scale of 1 to 10 it was 8 or 9! So its past 9pm and there is no late night vets that I am able to visit and I am getting really worried about my rabbit. Usually when I let her out of the cage she will hop around, but tonight she is just laying down, not moving much. She lays down in a position I've never seen her in, it looks very uncomfortable. When I go to pick her up, she jumps away fine. She seems to have no trouble with jumping. She does have a very sensitive stomach when it comes to food. We had to take her to the vet once when she had stopped eating to get her whole digestive system moving again. At about 4pm I gave her some spinich, a bit more than I usually give her because there wasn't too much left and the spinich seemed to be going limp. I can take 10 Midol, and I'll still be keeled over. The pain radiates from the front around to my lower back so I can't ever get comfortable. It's so bad that I'm unable to focus at work and usually end up leaving because I'm crying and miserable. I go through a super plus tampon every 20-30 minutes the first two days of my period. I've tried Midol, 800mg Ibuprofen, Meloxicam, drinking lots of water, heating pads, hot baths, natural remedies... The only thing that's worked for me is vicodin or morphine, which i've been able to get from my mom when all else fails. I'm active and exercise, I don't drink alcohol or smoke or do any other damaging things to my body. Bascially I have a condition which affects my knees and my back, my doctor called it (something) diesese affecting it as i've had it since i was 13 and now turned 18 so he said i should try these tablets to see if it helps. Please help. My symptoms are: chronic pain in both ankle joints, chronic pain in both elbows/lower triceps, and chronic sore/hoarse throat. A little over a yea ago I was diagnosed with degenerative disc deiase an was told by the ortho and my pa to take three tyneol when it hurt or if it hurt bad my pa was going to keep me in hydro. (Last script was filled in July of last year and still have three). I sneezed a week and a half ago and hurt myself. Who should I go see about my long term joint pain? What could it be? I am a 23 year-old female in the US. In November of 2007, my left knee started hurting. I went into an orthopedic surgeon in June of 2008, and he said it might be plica syndrome. He prescribed Naproxen as needed, and I continued with that for probably 8 or 9 months. I went in again in early August 2008 and he said that it was idiopathic and there was nothing really he could do. So sorry! ::) We'd just see how it goes. For about the last 7 months, I have been having knee pain. I did not do anything to my knee to make this happen. I did go to my dr several times for it and she sent me to physical therapy. My mum has an old lab cross he is a recuses and we think he is about 12 1/2. He is carrying a bit of weight but he is not massive, just loves his food like any lab and is not to active now he is getting on. 3 days ago he started to limp. My mum did not take him out that day as she thought it would be best for him to rest. The limp went so the next day we had a lot of snow. Okay, I have NO idea how I did this, but my foot has hurt like crazy for 13 weeks now. Finally, my doctor ordered an MRI, after x-rays showed absolutely nothing. The MRI says that there is severe bone marrow edema in my cuboid bone with bone bruising. The prognosis from the physician is 4 to 12 months to heal. Is there anything I can do besides taking an anti-inflammatory, meloxicam in this case, that will provide pain relief or speed the healing process?
