- Resolved Question: I need advice/help with my asthma.?
(Sun, 20 Apr 2008 23:37:50 GMT)
Xopenex I've had adult-onset asthma ever since I was 23, at least that's when it was first diagnosed, and it's been up/down, since then, but seems to almost get worse to a degree. I'm on lots of meds, herbals, take great care of myself, yet nothing seems to really be wworking. It's not controlled. I'm on singulair/zyrtec/atrovent/symbicort, and i take xopenex/prednisone for emergencies, and yet I STILL sometimes dont' get relief. Needless to say my life is nonexistant, as the asthma makes it hard

- Resolved Question: What causes a 6 month old baby to wheeze constantly?
(Wed, 26 Mar 2008 20:09:00 GMT)
Xopenex My 6 month old daughter wheezes all the time, and she has since she has been 2 monthes old. She has been in and out of the hosptial cause of her wheezing and she retracts sometimes really bad. The doctors just keep giving her steroids and xopenex for her nebulizer, but her steroids she takes by mouth, they have taken all kinds of x-rays of her chest, neck, and wind pipe, and they all came back good. They keep telling me they dont know what is going on. I finally got one doctor that is going t
- Resolved Question: Serious trouble breathing in the morning.. and throughout the day?
(Sun, 16 Mar 2008 19:10:01 GMT)
Xopenex I am in New York and do not have Medical Coverage as I am Canadian. I was treated for this condition before i left Canada which is why I can't get travelers insurance as this is considered 'pre existing'. Anyways, I have always had mild asthma, maybe going through 1 or 2 inhalers a year. I could blow to the top of a peak flow meter and even though I smoke I could also cycle 100 miles a day. I have only been smoking for 3 years and the last couple months it has been about 1/3 pack a day. I a
- Resolved Question: My baby has reflux, he's on Axid, Xopenex, and Pulmicourt. Would changing his milk help. It's Good Start now.
(Thu, 13 Mar 2008 23:21:45 GMT)
Xopenex I was wanting to know maybe that way I won't have to hassle with the breathing treatments. PLEASE I need help. The reflux gives him ear infections, runny nose, weezing, cough, hoarseness, and crankiness. It is aweful
- Resolved Question: Are steroids & some inhalers used for asthma treatments dangerous for your health?
(Tue, 19 Feb 2008 22:09:56 GMT)
Xopenex Specifically prendisone, symbicort/advair, and even albuterol/xopenex. Are these dangerous for us? I use asthma meds almost daily to control my asthma, and I take prendisone for emergencies. I almost always feel weird, nauseous and just tired/worn out after taking all of these, but it definitely helps my asthma go away.
- Voting Question: What does it mean for my child's platelets to be 529? Is this a problem?
(Sat, 16 Feb 2008 16:55:53 GMT)
Xopenex My child has many food allergies and is on Neocate formula for food. (He can only eat a few things like grapes, raisins, peppers, wheat, milk and most meats but not beef.) He has not grown in 2 years at all so they finally started tests on him this week. They discovered his platelets were high and that his zinc was very low. We started him on a zinc supplement yesterday and he was able to eat a bit last night and a tiny bit this morning. If he does not gain weight before March 20th, they are g

- Resolved Question: What do you do about asthma that just won't go away or be controlled?
(Sun, 10 Feb 2008 21:19:26 GMT)
Xopenex I've tried so many things. Got rid of claritin and allegra since they didn't seem to help. I take singulair/zyrtec daily, I take symbicort twice daily, used to take advair but that didn't help too much, Atrovent, nasonex in the nose, and for emergency I take xopenex and prendisone, and sometimes even after all of that in one day, it still won't go away. I still get the tightness, the strange allergic, watery eye sensation with the burning and trouble breathing, and it just won't stop. Some d
- Resolved Question: asthma medication & pregnancy?
(Sun, 10 Feb 2008 14:49:26 GMT)
Xopenex I've been researching the asthma medication that I've been prescribed (Singular, Asthmanax & Xopenex) and the two inhalors, at least, are not recommended to be used by pregnant women. I'm not currently pregnant, but I was wondering what asthma medication I could use whenever I become pregnant? I've had asthma my whole life and it is "triggered" by allergens, such as pollen, and exercise. Asthmanex is a daily preventative inhalor, while Xopenex is an emergency inhalor. I can't use the Albutero
- Resolved Question: My asthma won't be stopped, and I'm on everything! HELP ! please! hellllp.?
(Fri, 08 Feb 2008 18:36:55 GMT)
Xopenex I'm already on Singulair and Zyrtec DAILY, switched from allegra and claritin because they didn't do anything. Then Atrovent, to help somewhat and control mucus secretion or whatever the hell that does. Then Advair, and for emergency meds i have xopenex/albuterol and Prendisone pill. And even after ALL of THAT, it won't go away. I mean after the prendisone and the xopenex, it calms down at least 50%, but it's sooooo gradual, and unpredictable. I could be fine, and then walking in the ma
- Resolved Question: Is it dangerous to be on multiple drugs at once, if needed?
(Wed, 30 Jan 2008 03:43:26 GMT)
Xopenex I'm on the following: Claritin, Zyrtec, Advair daily for asthma. Sometimes add Atrovent, and Xopenex/Albuterol for emergencies, as well as Prendisone. Ativan/Valium for anxiety. Propecia/Rogaine for hair. Vitamin Shoppe vitamins/supplements/herbals whenever for general health. I recently had plastic surgery so I'm also now on Oxycontin, some Methyl'etc drug for inflammation, an antibiotic Ceplexin or something, . Is taking all of this at once very very bad for you, or is it okay as long
- Resolved Question: How come even the tiniest scents and powders can trigger a life threatening asthmatic reaction?
(Sat, 26 Jan 2008 16:44:51 GMT)
Xopenex Are the asthmatics lungs THAT bad? I have asthma and all it takes is one TINY 2 minute trip to a cosmetics store like sephora, and i don't even directly inhale anything, but that alone, and Im' already feeling lightheaded and strange, and then it just keeps building, and within the hour if I don't have the proper meds on me, it's the whole 9. The asthmatic reaction, labored breathing, soreness, etc etc etc, How can such TINY things affect breathing SO much? Would that mean that I have aller
- Resolved Question: I have asthma. Nothing really works too well except Prednisone. I need advice! Help!?
(Thu, 24 Jan 2008 22:47:23 GMT)
Xopenex I unfortunately had asthma bad to the point where it literally disrupted my consciousness, and I couldn't think clearly at all. Upon receiving ER treatment with many meds, aside from breathing better, I noticed that my head felt a rush, and suddenly everything was "clear" again, and I could think clearly and what not. I'm sure I haven't been receiving adequate oxygen. I'm on singulair, claritin, advair, atrovent, and sometimes I experiment with pulmicort respules. I have xopenex and albute
- Resolved Question: Asthma preventing me from leading normal life. HELP! :-( :-(?
(Sat, 19 Jan 2008 01:18:36 GMT)
Xopenex I developed it around the age of 23, and perhaps always had it but was only diagnosed then, as opposed to when I was young. It unfortunately doesn't seem like it's going to go away permanently anytime soon. I can not have it for a while, and then out of nowhere, I start feeling my lungs start to ache and squeeze and boom, several minutes later, I'm having a bad asthma attack, and end up in the ER on some steroid shots, xopenex and atrovent treatments, and what not. What the hell? I'm healthy
- Voting Question: Weight Loss/Asthma?
(Mon, 14 Jan 2008 01:49:19 GMT)
Xopenex I lost a lot of weight the year before last, and am in better health now. Well I was. After the weight loss, lifestyle change, I got extremely ill with many lung infections. I ended up developing asthma! After working on meds, I finally have three that seem to help but after going back in after 6 months, I find out now I have high blood pressure! I went from being on no medications, no health issues, and being overweight. To being a normal weight and now with "severe" asthma and high blood p

- Resolved Question: 4 year old prescribed Xopenex & Pulmicort?
(Fri, 23 Nov 2007 04:16:29 GMT)
Xopenex We gave her the 1st breathing treatment this morning and I was wondering if this 2nd treatment will keep her up all night. If your children have been prescribed this, what was it for? A couple of doctors feel my daughter may have asthma, but are reluctant to diagnose it as that without a family history and she's had allergy tests all come back negative. She has a constant cough only at night, and when she goes to the pediatrician I am told she is wheezing (this can only be heard by the doctor

Xopenex Medicare will only pay for a medicine called Albuterol. I cannot take this medicne because of cardiac arrythmia and can only take Xopenex 1.25 inhalation solution in my nebulizer. (Tue, 25 Sep 2007 22:58:08 GMT)
Xopenex My daughter started school a month ago. Ever since, all of us have been very sick because she's bringing home lots of germs. My 18 month old is catching everything she is catching. He has had a cough for a while now, so I took him into the doctor. She listened to him and she said he didn't have pneumonia. She said his airways sound tight or something like that and made it sound like it was something completely unrelated to his cold. This kid has NEVER had any health or breathing issues before.

(Sat, 21 Apr 2007 15:52:38 GMT)
Xopenex I have been coughing like crazy for 3 weeks, started out as a cold, that went away felt much better except the constant coughing and not being able to breathe. Went to the doctor 2 days ago he said I said severe asthmatic bronchitis, and he had to give me a cortisone shot because my lungs were so inflammed. The day he gave me the shot I felt much better, barely any coughing and I was actually able to breathe. Yesterday I guess the shot wore off, and I am back to not being able to breathe again

(lev al byoo' ter ol)Why is this medication prescribed?
Levalbuterol is used to prevent or relieve the wheezing, difficulty breathing, and chest tightness caused by lung disease such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; a group of diseases that affect the lungs and airways). Levalbuterol is in a class of medications called beta agonists. It works by relaxing and opening air passages to the lungs to make breathing easier.
How should this medicine be used?
Levalbuterol comes as a solution (liquid) to inhale by mouth using a nebulizer (machine that turns medication into a mist that can be inhaled), a concentrated solution to be mixed with normal saline and inhaled by mouth using a nebulizer, and as an aerosol to inhale by mouth using an inhaler. The solution for oral inhalation is usually used three times a day, once every 6-8 hours. The inhaler is usually used every 4-6 hours. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use levalbuterol exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
