Oxygen Cardiac Arrest Side Effect Reports

The following Oxygen Cardiac Arrest side effect reports were submitted by healthcare professionals and consumers.

This information will help you understand how side effects, such as Cardiac Arrest, can occur, and what you can do about them.

A side effect could appear soon after you start Oxygen or it might take time to develop.

Oedema Peripheral, Orthopnoea, Cardiac Arrest, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Cardiac Failure Congestive

This Cardiac Arrest side effect was reported by a physician from AUSTRALIA. A female patient (weight:NA) experienced the following symptoms/conditions: NA. The patient was prescribed Oxygen (dosage: 3 L), which was started on Jun 15, 2011. Concurrently used drugs:
  • Pradaxa
  • Pradaxa
  • Proton Pump Inhibitor
When starting to take Oxygen the consumer reported the following symptoms:
  • Oedema Peripheral
  • Orthopnoea
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Cardiac Failure Congestive
These side effects may potentially be related to Oxygen.
Cardiac Arrest, Grand Mal Convulsion, Loss Of Consciousness

This Cardiac Arrest Oxygen side effect was reported by a health professional from POLAND on Jan 23, 2012. A Female , weighting 136.7 lb, was treated with Oxygen. The patient presented the following health conditions:
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Grand Mal Convulsion
  • Loss Of Consciousness
. Oxygen dosage: NA. Additional drugs used at the same time:
  • Solu-medrol (40 Mg, Unk)
  • Optimark (10 Ml, Single)
The patient was hospitalized.
Cardiac Arrest

This is a Oxygen side effect report of a 54-year-old female patient (weight:NA) from BELGIUM, suffering from the following symptoms/conditions: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, who was treated with Oxygen (dosage:NA, start time: Sep 01, 2011), combined with:

, and developed a serious reaction and a Cardiac Arrest side effect. The patient presented with:
  • Cardiac Arrest
which developed after the beginning of treatment. The patient was hospitalized. This side effect report can indicate a possible existence of increased vulnerability to Oxygen treatment in female patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, resulting in Cardiac Arrest.

Cardiac Arrest

A 1-year-old patient (weight: NA) from NEW ZEALAND with the following symptoms: induction of anaesthesia started Oxygen treatment (dosage: NA) on NS. Soon after starting Oxygen treatment, the consumer experienced several side effects, including:
  • Cardiac Arrest
. Concurrently used drugs:
  • Sevoflurane
This finding indicates that some patients can be more vulnerable to developing Oxygen side effects, such as Cardiac Arrest.
Multi-organ Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Hypoxic-ischaemic Encephalopathy, Cardiac Failure

A patient from JAPAN was prescribed and started Oxygen on Mar 29, 2011. Patient felt the following Oxygen side effects: multi-organ failure, cardiac arrest, hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, cardiac failure Additional patient health information: male , child 4 years of age, weighting 37.48 lb, The consumer reported the following symptoms: . Oxygen Cardiac Arrest Causes and Reviews

The heart has an internal electrical system that controls the rhythm of the heartbeat. Problems can cause abnormal heart rhythms, called arrhythmias. There are many types of arrhythmia. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast, too slow, or it can stop beating. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) occurs when the heart develops an arrhythmia that causes it to stop beating. This is different than a heart attack, where the heart usually continues to beat but blood flow to the heart is blocked.

There are many possible causes of SCA. They include coronary heart disease, physical stress, and some inherited disorders. Sometimes there is no known cause for the SCA.

Without medical attention, the person will die within a few minutes. People are less likely to die if they have early defibrillation. Defibrillation sends an electric shock to restore the heart rhythm to normal. You should give cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a person having SCA until defibrillation can be done.

If you have had an SCA, an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) reduces the chance of dying from a second SCA.

I am using home Oxygen levels between 1 and 2. I am having bad headaches, stomach pains, and leg pains. When I am not using the Oxygen I dont have the horrible headaches. Once I use the oxgyen again i have the headaches. I feel as if I dont need the Oxygen. Everytime I go to the doctor for check ups my levels are low between 78 and 84. Is there any that I should do or tell my doctor.

I have a friend that has currently been treated with steriods and is on Oxygen 24/7 and her gums appear sunburn and are peeling is this a side affect of the O2?

Sun, 13 May 2012

My husband has been on Oxygen for the last 21 months, and soon after, began getting a raspy voice, and it seemed hard for him to talk and breath. He only uses it at night. Recently he had to be hospitalized, and while there his normal sounding voice came back ( he was on Oxygen there as well 24/7). After being home for 5 days, he lost his voice, and it is slowly coming back a little bit. The Dr.s' have no clue, even though they both know he is still on the Oxygen. My husband has been told that he really doesn't need the Oxygen anymore, but he chooses to remain on it at night. He has recently been using a bottle filled with water that is hooked inline on the concentrator.

Thu, 17 Jun 2010

While using Oxygen (24/7) during the past six weeks I have become hoarse. I've now ceased the Oxygen therapy but my hoarseness persists. Is this normal or how long should I expect it to continue?
