, and developed a serious reaction and a Pneumonia side effect. The patient presented with:
  • Nausea

Oxygen Pneumonia Causes and Reviews

Pneumonia is an infection in one or both of the lungs. Many germs, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, can cause Pneumonia. You can also get Pneumonia by inhaling a liquid or chemical. People most at risk are older than 65 or younger than 2 years of age, or already have health problems.

Symptoms of Pneumonia vary from mild to severe. See your doctor promptly if you

  • Have a high fever
  • Have shaking chills
  • Have a cough with phlegm that doesn't improve or gets worse
  • Develop shortness of breath with normal daily activities
  • Have chest pain when you breathe or cough
  • Feel suddenly worse after a cold or the flu

Your doctor will use your medical history, a physical exam, and lab tests to diagnose Pneumonia. Treatment depends on what kind you have. If bacteria are the cause, antibiotics should help. If you have viral Pneumonia, your doctor may prescribe an antiviral medicine to treat it.

Preventing Pneumonia is always better than treating it. Vaccines are available to prevent pneumococcal Pneumonia and the flu. Other preventive measures include washing your hands frequently and not smoking.

I have a friend that has currently been treated with steriods and is on Oxygen 24/7 and her gums appear sunburn and are peeling is this a side affect of the O2?

Sun, 13 May 2012

My husband has been on Oxygen for the last 21 months, and soon after, began getting a raspy voice, and it seemed hard for him to talk and breath. He only uses it at night. Recently he had to be hospitalized, and while there his normal sounding voice came back ( he was on Oxygen there as well 24/7). After being home for 5 days, he lost his voice, and it is slowly coming back a little bit. The Dr.s' have no clue, even though they both know he is still on the Oxygen. My husband has been told that he really doesn't need the Oxygen anymore, but he chooses to remain on it at night. He has recently been using a bottle filled with water that is hooked inline on the concentrator.

While using Oxygen (24/7) during the past six weeks I have become hoarse. I've now ceased the Oxygen therapy but my hoarseness persists. Is this normal or how long should I expect it to continue?
