Oxygen Sepsis Side Effects

Oxygen Sepsis Side Effect Reports

The following Oxygen Sepsis side effect reports were submitted by healthcare professionals and consumers.

This information will help you understand how side effects, such as Sepsis, can occur, and what you can do about them.

A side effect could appear soon after you start Oxygen or it might take time to develop.

Platelet Count Decreased, Sepsis, Neutrophil Count Decreased

This Sepsis side effect was reported by a health professional from JAPAN. A 50-year-old female patient (weight:NA) experienced the following symptoms/conditions: NA. The patient was prescribed Oxygen (dosage: 1 Liters), which was started on Aug 24, 2011. Concurrently used drugs:
  • Fentanyl
  • Red Blood Cells
  • Heparin Sodium (1000 Units)
  • Funguard (150 Milligram)
  • Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (600 Milligram)
  • Rabeprazole Sodium (10 Milligram)
  • Abraxane (150 Milligram)
  • Celecoxib (200 Milligram)
When starting to take Oxygen the consumer reported the following symptoms:
  • Platelet Count Decreased
  • Sepsis
  • Neutrophil Count Decreased
These side effects may potentially be related to Oxygen.
Lethargy, Peripheral Vascular Disorder, Hypoxia, Appetite Disorder, Cyanosis, Sepsis

This Sepsis Oxygen side effect was reported by a health professional from TURKEY on Aug 09, 2011. A Female , weighting 6.97 lb, was treated with Oxygen. The patient presented the following health conditions:
  • Lethargy
  • Peripheral Vascular Disorder
  • Hypoxia
  • Appetite Disorder
  • Cyanosis
  • Sepsis
. Oxygen dosage: NA. Additional drugs used at the same time:
  • Methergine (Unk)
The patient was hospitalized.
Hypoxic-ischaemic Encephalopathy, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Sepsis, Blood Glucose Abnormal, Epistaxis, Pneumonia

This is a Oxygen side effect report of a 75-year-old patient (weight:NA) from UNITED STATES, suffering from the following symptoms/conditions: NA, who was treated with Oxygen (dosage:NA, start time: Jan 01, 2010), combined with:
  • Potassium Chloride
  • Trazodone Hcl (Trazadone 50mg At Bed Time.)
  • Novolin N

  • Hypoxic-ischaemic Encephalopathy
  • Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
  • Sepsis
  • Blood Glucose Abnormal
  • Epistaxis
  • Pneumonia
which developed after the beginning of treatment. The patient was hospitalized. This side effect report can indicate a possible existence of increased vulnerability to Oxygen treatment in patients suffering from NA, resulting in Sepsis.

Sepsis, Febrile Neutropenia

A patient (weight: NA) from UNITED STATES with the following symptoms: NA started Oxygen treatment (dosage: NA) on Sep 22, 2010. Soon after starting Oxygen treatment, the consumer experienced several side effects, including:

Oxygen Sepsis Causes and Reviews

Sepsis is a serious illness. It happens when your body has an overwhelming immune response to a bacterial infection. The chemicals released into the blood to fight the infection trigger widespread inflammation. This leads to blood clots and leaky blood vessels. They cause poor blood flow, which deprives your body's organs of nutrients and oxygen. In severe cases, one or more organs fail. In the worst cases, blood pressure drops and the heart weakens, leading to septic shock.

Anyone can get Sepsis, but the risk is higher in

  • People with weakened immune systems
  • Infants and children
  • The elderly
  • People with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, AIDS, cancer, and kidney or liver disease
  • People suffering from a severe burn or physical trauma

Common symptoms of Sepsis are fever, chills, rapid breathing and heart rate, rash, confusion, and disorientation. Doctors diagnose Sepsis using a blood test to see if the number of white blood cells is abnormal. They also do lab tests that check for signs of infection.

People with Sepsis are usually treated in hospital intensive care units. Doctors try to treat the infection, sustain the vital organs, and prevent a drop in blood pressure. Many patients receive oxygen and intravenous (IV) fluids. Other types of treatment, such as respirators or kidney dialysis, may be necessary. Sometimes, surgery is needed to clear up an infection.

I am using home Oxygen levels between 1 and 2. I am having bad headaches, stomach pains, and leg pains. When I am not using the Oxygen I dont have the horrible headaches. Once I use the oxgyen again i have the headaches. I feel as if I dont need the Oxygen. Everytime I go to the doctor for check ups my levels are low between 78 and 84. Is there any that I should do or tell my doctor.

I have a friend that has currently been treated with steriods and is on Oxygen 24/7 and her gums appear sunburn and are peeling is this a side affect of the O2?

Sun, 13 May 2012

My husband has been on Oxygen for the last 21 months, and soon after, began getting a raspy voice, and it seemed hard for him to talk and breath. He only uses it at night. Recently he had to be hospitalized, and while there his normal sounding voice came back ( he was on Oxygen there as well 24/7). After being home for 5 days, he lost his voice, and it is slowly coming back a little bit. The Dr.s' have no clue, even though they both know he is still on the Oxygen. My husband has been told that he really doesn't need the Oxygen anymore, but he chooses to remain on it at night. He has recently been using a bottle filled with water that is hooked inline on the concentrator.

Thu, 17 Jun 2010

While using Oxygen (24/7) during the past six weeks I have become hoarse. I've now ceased the Oxygen therapy but my hoarseness persists. Is this normal or how long should I expect it to continue?
