Reclast Bone Pain Causes and Reviews

Like other parts of the body, bones can get infected. The infections are usually bacterial, but can also be fungal. They may spread to the bone from nearby skin or muscles, or from another part of the body through the bloodstream. People who are at risk for bone infections include those with diabetes, poor circulation, or recent injury to the bone. You may also be at risk if you are having hemodialysis.

Symptoms of bone infections include

  • Pain in the infected area
  • Chills and fever
  • Swelling, warmth, and redness

A blood test or imaging test such as an x-ray can tell if you have a bone infection. Treatment includes antibiotics and often surgery.

Reclast Bone Pain Reviews

Fri, 27 Apr 2012

I have been on Reclast for 5 years. Like sh, I had no symptoms the first two years, except now that I look back, I realize what we have been calling restless leg syndrome began about that time. Then muscle cramps started. I would cry out they were so severe and my husband supported me into hot baths in the middle of the night. How, it is joint, muscle, shoulder and Bone Pain. My internist does not think it is a Reclast issue because she believes the symptoms all come and go within a few days of the infusion. My life is severely impacted. I can garden for a few hours, then take pain pills for 3-4 days before I have enough energy to try it again. Vacuuming the floor makes me so short of breath I have to stop every 5 minutes. Please let me know if anyone else is feeling like this and if anyone knows anything about antidote and/or if it just wears off if you don't repeat the procedure.

I'm having my third Reclast treatment, and ever since to first one, I have experienced severe hip pain and lower back pain. I also have muscle spasms daily and suffer and some Bone Pain in my ankles and tibia. I have discussed these side effects with my doctor and because my d-scan hadn't changed in the three years, she wants me to continuue the treatment. I'm torn about getting another infusion . I have discussed these issues with her and she shrugs her shoulders and tells me I need it.

What do you think?

quot;Association does not equal causationquot;: posters seem to assume that any symptom occurring within a year of the Reclast infusion is caused by Reclast (just noticing that, and wondering whether the manufacturer needs to do a better job of educating and reassuring patients and physicians). Following my first Reclast infusion I experienced moderate Bone Pain on Days 2 and 3; it was relieved by Advil. I had no fever, chills, or malaise and have since had nothing unusual happen. Discussions on an osteoporosis forum suggested that those of us who hydrated VERY thoroughly before and immediately following the infusion were less troubled by side effects. My second infusion is coming up now in a month and, as before, I will drink at least 2 quarts of liquid a day the day of the infusion and for two days preceding it. I refused oral osteoporosis drugs because of the esophageal and gastric hazards, and I am very grateful for Reclast. Disclaimer: I don't work for the company that makes it and am not a medical professional.

I had Reclast on July 15 2009. I was told by RN doing the IV infusion, that if I had side effects it would happen in about 3 days, it took 8 hours. I had severe flu like symptons the first 24 hours, I have had continuous headaches Bone Pain all over, every joint, fingers, toes, ribs and my hair is coming out. I am calling my dr. tomorrow as I doubt I will take it again. Good luck.

My mother had this infusion about 3 weeks ago...she had terrible side effects. First it was the flu like feeling..achey, tired, difficulty focusing...and then recently she has even had a bone spur show up in her hand and finger....but the Bone Pain has been the worst. She is now unable to walk because of her hip pain. She is 73 years old and has walked at least 3 miles just about everyday. She eats more healthily than anyone I know. She drinks plenty of water. She is in great shape. Unfortunately she has osteopenia...the beginning of osteoarthritis. The pain has not been allieviated with any type of tylenol. A little relief from Advil...but about 4 per day...just so that she can get around in her home...to and from bathroom. She is miserable and was absolutely fine until they infused her with Reclast. So for the person that said that they didn't have any side effects.....great for them.....but from reading all the people that have had the side effects.....their lives have been changed in a horrific way. Their health has not been improved....in fact...it has been largely jeopardized. Reclast should take more of an interest in fully warning their patients of the possibility of horrific pain....that doesn't go away. It's truly criminal. I will be praying for all of those poor people that trusted in their doctors and the FDA to monitor this drug. May God give them relief.

Since having the Reclast infusion on the 9th of November, I have been weak, pain in my chest, dizziness, a low-grade fever, and headaches. I first experienced the flu-like symptoms and Bone Pain, but that was mild compared to the way I have felt since then! Why oh why did I let my doctor talk me into this?! Thank you.
