Boniva report #SELF-164

Female patient reported the following Boniva side effect(s):Nausea, extreme fatigue, pain and tingling in left arm, pain across left scapula accompanied by itchy rash, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, general weakness, mild generalized pain all over body, sleeplessness

Event date: Wednesday September 17th 12:00:00 AM
Dosage: 150 mg oval white tab taken orally
Frequency: This was my first time using Boniva. I had been given a kit by my primary care physician.
Age: 63
Weight: 130
Other medications: I followed all instructions carefully, i.e., took Boniva first thing in the morning with 6-8 oz water, took no other medications until a maximum of 60 minutes later, did not lie down, did not eat or drink anything other than the water used to swallow the Boniva. One hour after taking the Boniva, I took my usual A.M. meds, which are Inderal 120 mgs (mornings and nights, for daily total of 240 mgs), flush-free Niacin, glucosamine chondroitin plus MSM. P.M. meds are Zocor 40 mg, second dose of Inderal, 1000 mg tab Calcium with Vitamins D+K, and 81 grain prophylactic aspirin.
Diagnosis: Osteoporosis
Pre-existing conditions: Race: Caucasian Smoke 1-2 packs of cigarettes daily. No allergies, don\'t drink, liver/kidney fine, never been pregnant and am now post-menopausal, cholesteral well-controlled with Zocor and diet, blockage left carotid dx\'d 1998, at 80% in 2006, no change in past 2 years; 100% blockage left subclavian arterty dx\'d in 1998; small collateral veins have grown spontaneously to feed left arm and hand.
