Oracea report #SELF-2215
Male patient reported the following Oracea side effect(s):I recently took this drug and within days began to suffer flu symptoms. It began with chills and 103 fever. This persisted for 10 days. Having had an antimune disease seven years ago, the persistent fevers and night sweats led me to believe that my PAN was out of remission and I was going into a flair. My CRP went up to 133, back pains, joint pains ( especially in ankles), fatigue, loss of appitite and loss of weight. At the time of this writing my total blood work has not been completed id p-anca, sed, etc. However, what has come back is frightening. My doctor (rheumatologist) and I were deeply concerned when I happened to mention to him that my dematologist had given me oracea. He looked it up and realized that I was likely experiencing a severe drug reaction. He increaded by Predisone to 20mg per day, took me off of the Oracea and we are in a wait and see mode now. However, I must say that since he called before I took my daily meds and I did not have oracea in my system I feel a lot better already. I truly believe that the terrible sequence of events that unfolded is directly related to Oracea. Apparently I am very sensitive.
