Bananas. This is either the potassium causing low blood pressure, or the tryptophan. report #SELF-2309

Male patient reported the following Bananas. This is either the potassium causing low blood pressure, or the tryptophan. side effect(s):The most notable symptoms were on 2/2/09, but I felt them throughout last week in a much less degree. These were: strange \"dizziness\" with lack of concentration and mild nausea.

Yesterday (2/2/09) I didn\'t eat the usual dose before going to bed, but I ate the usual in the morning, and the situation today has slightly improved.

Event date: Monday February 2nd 12:00:00 AM
Dosage: 1/2 large banana before bedtime, and another 1/2 in the morning
Frequency: daily, morning and evening, last two weeks
Age: 32
Weight: 83
Other medications: none
Diagnosis: Bananas promote good sleep because they contain tryptophan. That\'s why I eat them before going to bed for the past two weeks -- I used to have problems sleeping lately which were solved after starting to eat bananas. I also eat them in the morning with breakfast cereal, because the tryptophan is known to improve your mood (converts to serotonine).
Pre-existing conditions: Smoking about 9-12 roll-ups a day
