Xopenex 1.25 mg/3cc inhalation solution report #SELF-2313
Female patient reported the following Xopenex 1.25 mg/3cc inhalation solution side effect(s):Severe paradoxical bronchospasm following my routine maintenance nebulizer treatment with Xopenex 1.25 mg/3cc that resulted in a period of unconscienceness and a 5 day hospitalization.
12/15/2008 is just one of 8 episodes of paradoxical bronchospasm associated with xopenex nebulizer treatments during 2008 that resulted in ER treatment or hospital admission. The two most severe episodes were: 1. 6/2008 that resulted in hospitalization and a short period of ventilator supportort. 2. 12/2008 resulting in unconscienceness and a 5 day hospitalization Less severe worsening of asthma symptoms following xopenex nebulization has occurred and was treated with racepinephrine 2.25% and sq epinephrine.
