Zyvox report #SELF-2413
Male patient reported the following Zyvox side effect(s):Blood sugar dropped dangerously low (41) causing seizure like symptoms of wide-eyed facial expression and gagging, choking sounds and uncontrollable flinging of arms. Could not speak or answer any questions.
Near fatal seizure with uncontrolled movements , garbled noises and wide-eyed look. Taken by ambulance to local hospital where glucose was administered and after 24 hours some normalcy restored. However appetite gone and no energy. Also on many other drugs including glipizide and lexapro. The doctor also prescribed taking vitamin B-6 with the Zyvox

Diagnosis: rare bacteria in urine
Pre-existing conditions: congestive heart failure, kidneys borderline, blood in urine from radiation cystitis of bladder, high blood pressure
Hospitalized? Yes taken to emergency room and administered glucose to bring blood sugar to a more normal range
Life-threatening? Yes could have caused a stroke

Was intervention required to prevent damage? No
