Levora report #SELF-3621

Female patient reported the following Levora side effect(s):superficial venous thrombosis- redish/purplish spots that run along my legs and hips resembling vercoise veins, weight gain of 60lbs in less than a month for a moderatly active person, legs and hips often feel cold but are extremly hot to the touch, leg cramps, chest pain, body feels like a pinball machine when blood clots are being passed, fatigue, not able to stand after sitting for any length of time, hot and cold flashes, swelling in the hips and legs causes an dramatic increase in dress size, trouble breathing, increase heart rate.

I was prescribed Levora for birth control at my local health clinic in October 4, 2008. I called the health clinic at the first of November when I first noticed all of the symptoms and was told to continue taking the pill for the prescribed 4 months and the symptoms would go away. I continued to take the pill for a few more weeks and the symptoms worsened.I called again and was told that there was no way that I could have any of those symptoms but that was a side effect of the pill. I was told that I could get off the pill or we could try another pill. I sought the advice of another doctor in March- May of 2009 as the symptoms had only progressed. My doctor then told me that I had superficial venous thrombosis. I have been off of the pill since Thanksgiving of 2008 and all of my symptoms are still present.
