Chantix Report: Debilitating chronic constipation excessive

A following Chantix side effect report was submitted by a user.

Female patient reported the following Chantix side effects :
debilitating chronic constipation, excessive bloating, constant upper and lower abdominal pain, nausea, chronic fatigue, lethargy.

Sought treatment from a gastrointestinal specialist who performed an upper endoscopy, x-rays, and blood tests. All results indicated no disease, infection, or ulcers present. Because the sudden onset of these symptoms occurred within 2 weeks of taking Chantix, I am discontinuing the drug. Doctor prescribed medication to treat symptoms, but they do not provide any relief. Most drugs have a large list of nonsevere or mild adverse effects which do not rule out continued usage. These effects depend on individual sensitivity, and can include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, malaise, vomiting, headache, dermatitis, dry mouth, etc. Check commonly reported side effects . These can be considered a form of pseudo-allergic reaction, as not all users experience these effects; many users experience none at all. PatientsVille on Facebook
