Morphine report #SELF-623

Female patient reported the following Morphine side effect(s):severe headache

ER - acute abdominal pain, intestinal blockage; My first morphine shot went fine. The second morphine shot was pushed through by \"flushing\" it with NS (normal saline). As soon as it hit my brain I had a headache that was comperable to one of my migraines. On a scale of one to ten, definitely a ten. Within a few minutes it passed, but only went down to an 8. I experienced severe headache after severe headache. I was given anti-nausea drugs (started with an F) and I was out. It helped the pain each time until it wore off. They switched me from morphine to dilantin (sp) on the 2nd day in the hospital. I was released yesterday. Today is the 4th day after receiving the iv morphine flush. The severe headaches are still occurring but are fewer and farther between. I hope I never have morphine again.
