Seretide Asthma Causes and Reviews

Asthma is a chronic disease that affects your airways. Your airways are tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs. If you have Asthma, the inside walls of your airways become sore and swollen. That makes them very sensitive, and they may react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating. When your airways react, they get narrower and your lungs get less air.

Symptoms of Asthma include

  • Wheezing
  • Coughing, especially early in the morning or at night
  • Chest tightness
  • Shortness of breath

Not all people who have Asthma have these symptoms. Having these symptoms doesn't always mean that you have Asthma. Your doctor will diagnose Asthma based on lung function tests, your medical history, and a physical exam. You may also have allergy tests.

When your Asthma symptoms become worse than usual, it's called an Asthma attack. Severe Asthma attacks may require emergency care, and they can be fatal.

Asthma is treated with two kinds of medicines: quick-relief medicines to stop Asthma symptoms and long-term control medicines to prevent symptoms.

Seretide Asthma Reviews

Sun, 30 Jun 2013

I forgot when the exact year I have started using Seretide but i know it's more than just 10 years. When I started using it life has become normal. I can do anything I wanted to without having to grasp for my breath. I don't have to sleep by my chair when I have Asthma attacks. I just couldn't let go of Seretide. As to its side effect, am not sure if my deformed fingers have anything to do with Seretide diskus.

I tried Seretide 8 months ago for poorly controlled Asthma. Day 3 I had an awful panic attack + confusion and dizziness. I went to the GP and he told me Seretide could not have caused the reaction. (didnt offer an alternative) I ceased the medication regardless because I felt it was the trigger. Last week, fed up of Asthma attacks I recommenced Seretide. Day 2. Same reaction. Confusion, dizziness leading to a panic attack. Went to a better GP this time and although he didn't believe the Seretide caused the attack he gave me a non steroidal preventer. Good effect with Intal. I am a nurse, I know my body well. Never had a panic attack prior to use, Seretide caused me awful panic attacks.

I ave used Seretide 250 for two years and in the past year my Asthma has got much worse. After visiting a consultant 3 weeks ago I was put on Seretide 500. After the first use of this I had a dry cough and have felt much more wheezy than before. Last night i woke up with palpatations which lasted about 15 mins. I go back to hospital next week and have questions to ask.

Is the Seretide making me worse and have I had too much cortisol. I now have oral thrush dispite rinsing and my skin has really flared up. Mainly on my back and stomach or is this a side effect. Treatment of this is steroids again so more cortisol again. I`m getting really fed up with these problems.

I swapped to taking Seretide 125 yesterday (was using Cenil Modulite). I'm not sure if it's the Seretide itself, the fact I've stopped taking my old preventer, or a combination of the too but I'm feeling quite odd; sort of restless and anxious. I also found it quite difficult to sleep. I'm hoping that these effects will gradually fade away, as it's doing wonders for my Asthma.

I have Asthma and one of the meds is Seretide MDI 250/25 (puffer) I suffer lots of indigestion and was wondering if this med could be the reason for the indigestion. I do take other medcines but was not having indigestion until I started on Seretide. dose taken: 2 puffs two times per day (total 4 doses)

Since Feb 08 I have been on Seretide as acquired Asthma due to damage to lungs for PE in both lungs. At time they changed my BP meds Atenlol as it made Asthma worse. Since then have gone through every type of BP they have but side effects are all bad.. Started with severe extruciating muscle cramps in legs.. I now realise that the common denominator is the Seretide. These cramps attack me during day at night.. I have to be very careful how I move as one wrong move I get an attack. Cramps have also moved to neck hips and back as I have had to increase the meds. I also noted that this drugs can cause glaucoma and cataracts as I am am on donor list for a cornea I suspect this is not a drug condusive to my medical conditions.

Developed Asthma after contacting a very bad chest infection. Was hospitalised and prescribed antibiotic and Seride 250 evohaler. Have since developed palpitations and my heart is definitely missing beats particularly when I am in bed. Also have developed weakness in my lower legs. Have a constant feeling of being unwell. Going back to my doctor tomorrow to insist on a change of therapy. I don't trust Seritide....this drug should be taken off the market. There is a tone of forums about this drug and how it is impacting people's lives. i think i would prefer the chest infection to be honest!!!!
Tue, 19 May 2009
I was prescribed Seretide 125 after a serious chest infection. It cleared up the wheezing within a day or so but then I became extremely tired and unable to function at work properly ie tired, unable to concentrate so reduced dosage to 2 puffs at night. Have now after about a month on Seretide noticed that I am fast gaining weight despite exercising more and eating less. I also have limited energy and blocked sinuses so I have now reduced my dosage to once at night. Will see how this goes and will review this drug at the Asthma clinic when I go in 2 weeks time. Would like to ditch it altogether but know that this has to be done slowly. I still have my reliever inhaler too.

Has anyone noticed any behavioural or mood changes with the use of Seretide? My 6 year old son uses it and, following his Asthma plan, we increased his dosage from 1 puff morning and night to 2 and he has been very prone to crying, throwing tantrums, being aggressive, which has stopped since (his cold better) we reduced the dose back to 1 puff twice a day
Tue, 21 Jul 2009
My 5 yr old daughter was put on Seretide 125, two puffs, twice a day in September 08. Although her Asthma has much improved I am now considering asking for a change in prescription as her behaviour is so bad, tantrums, aggression, hyperactivity. I have been looking on here tonight to see if anyone else has had this problem with their child. If its not the medication then maybe she is suffering from ADHD but just dont know which way to turn at the mo
