Seretide Cough Causes and Reviews

Coughing is a reflex that keeps your throat and airways clear. Although it can be annoying, Coughing helps your body heal or protect itself. Coughs can be either acute or chronic. Acute Coughs begin suddenly and usually last no more than 2 to 3 weeks. Acute Coughs are the kind you most often get with a cold, flu, or acute bronchitis. Chronic Coughs last longer than 2 to 3 weeks. Causes of chronic Cough include

  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
  • Smoking
  • Throat disorders, such as croup in young children
  • Some medicines

Water can help ease your Cough - whether you drink it or add it to the air with a steamy shower or vaporizer. If you have a cold or the flu, antihistamines may work better than non-prescription Cough medicines. Children under four should not have Cough medicine. For children over four, use caution and read labels carefully.

Seretide Cough Reviews

Fri, 06 Apr 2012

I ave used Seretide 250 for two years and in the past year my asthma has got much worse. After visiting a consultant 3 weeks ago I was put on Seretide 500. After the first use of this I had a dry Cough and have felt much more wheezy than before. Last night i woke up with palpatations which lasted about 15 mins. I go back to hospital next week and have questions to ask.

Is the Seretide making me worse and have I had too much cortisol. I now have oral thrush dispite rinsing and my skin has really flared up. Mainly on my back and stomach or is this a side effect. Treatment of this is steroids again so more cortisol again. I`m getting really fed up with these problems.

My daughter is 3years 4 months old and she had a Cough for about a month. She was given medications for Cough but none worked. She was then prescribed for Seretide 50 evohaler which she takes twice a day. Is this safe for her and does that mean she has asthma?

Hi, Has anyone else had these side effects? I have tried Becotide, Seretide and one other. Every time I only lasted approximately 3 months before I gave up. I was on, and am on, Ventolin constantly. With the Becotide etc my lungs would dry out and I had a dry tight Cough/wheeze. I needed to Cough to dislodge the phlegm. This got more difficult and eventually the Coughing caused hoarseness. The phlegm would catch in my throat and I would have to Cough to dislodge it so I could breathe. At times this was difficult and it interfered with my breathing to the point where I had real fear. At this stage I'd give up as I was concerned that I would get to the stage where I couldn't dislodge it. Has anything like this happened to anyone else?
