While seeing a psycho-therapist, I started to see the light as to how to become less incumbered by my emotions (especially the unhappy/unpleasant ones). I was still having problems keeping an "even keel", so I asked for a reccomendation for an anti-depressant pill. After presenting the reccomendations to my PCP, and a good long chat with him, the decision for me to try Citalopram was made. Any doctors worth his/her salt will tell you that you may have to try a few different medications to find the one that fits your needs, but both of my doc's took a great amount of time to talk to me and find the right one...on the first try even! It works great for me. I am rarely ever anxious, uptight, moody, or down anymore. I have come a long way with psycho-analysis alone, but Citalopram (low dose) gives me the stability and edge to make every day as good as I can make it. No side effects. I think it may have healped me quit smoking too and that is where the weight gain came into play, but I'd rather be puffy amp; happy than skinny and miserable. I'm working on the "puff" next.
