Spironolactone Hypokalaemia Causes and Reviews
Potassium is a mineral that your body needs to work properly. It is a type of electrolyte. It helps your nerves to function and muscles to contract. It helps your heartbeat stay regular. It also helps move nutrients into cells and waste products out of cells. A diet rich in potassium helps to offset some of sodium's harmful effects on blood pressure.
Many people get all the potassium they need from what they eat and drink. Sources of potassium in the diet include
- Leafy greens, such as spinach and collards
- Fruit from vines, such as grapes and blackberries
- Root vegetables, such as carrots and potatoes
- Citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruit
Your kidneys help to keep the right amount of potassium in your body. If you have chronic kidney disease, your kidneys may not remove extra potassium from the blood. Some medicines also can raise your potassium level. You may need a special diet to lower the amount of potassium that you eat.
Spironolactone Hypokalaemia Reviews

I am a female patient from NY, age 33. I am being treated for Hashimoto Thyroiditis with Synthroid and Cytomel. I was concerned that after 11 years since my diagnosis, my hair is still falling out at an alarming rate. My doctor noticed that my testosterone levels were a bit high and decided to treat me with Spironolactone (50 MG). I noticed no difference in the amount of hair loss but have been having constant, uncomfortable eye spasms and a breast tenderness as well as breast enlargement. This is just after a little over a month of treatment. I will stop taking Spironolactone as I do not see it as being beneficial to me.

I'm a 29 year old female and started taking spiro to get rid of my persistent adult acne. I took 100mg a day for about 2 weeks and it worked really quickly to clear my skin, I also went up an entire cup size which was a bonus and because it stopped any fluid retention I lost a bit of weight as well.

|I was on Spironolactone (12.5 daily) . Hindsight, almost immediately I began suffering from ED. Mixed symptoms thought at the time from Diabetes T2 . Was also on Ace Inhibitors, Digoxin, Ibuprofenm Furosemide. After 18 months suddenly developed MAJOR heartburn and EXTREMELY sore nipples. When GP was told of new symptons, was immediately told to halt Spiron. I have been off of it for 4 months now, but STILL experience nipple pain. Can anyone tell me how to stop the pain ?? I was told that it would go away, but I am starting to wonder. I am a 58 yo WM, 5'7, 250# . My chest has increased 2 'cup' sizes at least. Would like to find out how to reverse these unwanted effects.|

|I'm 27 f female from aust, i have been taking Spironolactone for about four months now. I have been prescribed this due to hair loss (thining really quickly) and i have found it to be amazing! I have been having mood swings as a result and headaches... however apart from that I couldnt be happier. My hair has stopped falling out! the hair i have is so much thicker and healthier... i dont wear a hat anymore and i got a knot in my hair for the first time yesterday.. sounds strange, but i was over the moon about it :) being able to grow my hair again has made me so happy I have had to take regular blood test to keep an eye on my levels. So far so good :)|
