Spironolactone Myocardial Infarction Side Effect Reports

The following Spironolactone Myocardial Infarction side effect reports were submitted by healthcare professionals and consumers.

This information will help you understand how side effects, such as Myocardial Infarction, can occur, and what you can do about them.

A side effect could appear soon after you start Spironolactone or it might take time to develop.

Myocardial Infarction

This Myocardial Infarction side effect was reported by a consumer or non-health professional from US. A 57-year-old female patient (weight:NA) experienced the following symptoms/conditions: NA. The patient was prescribed Spironolactone (dosage: 50 Mg, 2x/day), which was started on NS. Concurrently used drugs: NA. When starting to take Spironolactone the consumer reported the following symptoms:
  • Myocardial Infarction
The patient was hospitalized. These side effects may potentially be related to Spironolactone.
Myocardial Infarction, Convulsion, Duodenal Ulcer, Gastric Haemorrhage, Chest Pain, Dyspnoea, Haematemesis

This Myocardial Infarction Spironolactone side effect was reported by a pharmacist from GB on Jun 10, 2013. A male , 67 years of age, weighting 249.1 lb, was treated with Spironolactone. The patient presented the following health conditions:
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Convulsion
  • Duodenal Ulcer
  • Gastric Haemorrhage
  • Chest Pain
  • Dyspnoea
  • Haematemesis
. Spironolactone dosage: 25 Mg. Additional drugs used at the same time:

  • Bisoprolol (5 Mg)
  • Gaviscon
  • Pravastatin (10 Mg)
The patient was hospitalized.
Myocardial Infarction, Oedema Peripheral, Somnolence, Dyspnoea, Tremor, Confusional State, Condition Aggravated, Fall

This is a Spironolactone side effect report of a 98-year-old patient (weight:NA) from GB, suffering from the following symptoms/conditions: NA, who was treated with Spironolactone (dosage:Half Dose, Oral, start time: Jan 15, 2013), combined with:
  • Bisoprolol
  • Lisinopril (lisinopril)

, and developed a serious reaction and a Myocardial Infarction side effect. The patient presented with:
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Oedema Peripheral
  • Somnolence
  • Dyspnoea
  • Tremor
  • Confusional State
  • Condition Aggravated
  • Fall
which developed after the beginning of treatment. This side effect report can indicate a possible existence of increased vulnerability to Spironolactone treatment in patients suffering from NA, resulting in Myocardial Infarction.

Spironolactone Myocardial Infarction Causes and Reviews

Each year almost 800,000 Americans have a heart attack. A heart attack happens when blood flow to the heart suddenly becomes blocked. Without the blood coming in, the heart can't get oxygen. If not treated quickly, the heart muscle begins to die. But if you do get quick treatment, you may be able to prevent or limit damage to the heart muscle. That's why it's important to know the symptoms of a heart attack and call 911 if you or someone else is having them. You should call, even if you are not sure that it is a heart attack.

The most common symptoms in men and women are

  • Chest discomfort. It is often in center or left side of the chest. It usually lasts more than a few minutes. It may go away and come back. It can feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain. It also can feel like heartburn or indigestion.
  • Shortness of breath. Sometimes this is your only symptom. You may get it before or during the chest discomfort. It can happen when you are resting or doing a little bit of physical activity.
  • Discomfort in the upper body. You may feel pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, shoulders, neck, jaw, or upper part of the stomach.

You may also have other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and lightheadedness. You may break out in a cold sweat. Sometimes women will have different symptoms then men. For example, they are more likely to feel tired for no reason.

The most common cause of heart attacks is coronary artery disease (CAD). With CAD, there is a buildup of cholesterol and other material, called plaque, on their inner walls or the arteries. This is atherosclerosis. It can build up for years. Eventually an area of plaque can rupture (break open). A blood clot can form around the plaque and block the artery.

A less common cause of heart attack is a severe spasm (tightening) of a coronary artery. The spasm cuts off blood flow through the artery.

At the hospital, health care providers make a diagnosis based on your symptoms, blood tests, and different heart health tests. Treatments may include medicines and medical procedures such as coronary angioplasty. After a heart attack, cardiac rehabilitation and lifestyle changes can help you recover.

Spironolactone Myocardial Infarction Reviews

Tue, 09 Nov 2010

I am a female patient from NY, age 33. I am being treated for Hashimoto Thyroiditis with Synthroid and Cytomel. I was concerned that after 11 years since my diagnosis, my hair is still falling out at an alarming rate. My doctor noticed that my testosterone levels were a bit high and decided to treat me with Spironolactone (50 MG). I noticed no difference in the amount of hair loss but have been having constant, uncomfortable eye spasms and a breast tenderness as well as breast enlargement. This is just after a little over a month of treatment. I will stop taking Spironolactone as I do not see it as being beneficial to me.

I'm a 29 year old female and started taking spiro to get rid of my persistent adult acne. I took 100mg a day for about 2 weeks and it worked really quickly to clear my skin, I also went up an entire cup size which was a bonus and because it stopped any fluid retention I lost a bit of weight as well.
Unfortunately I had to stop taking it because of the side effects. The worst was a really low mood and anxiety, I would take it and half an hour later have to skull 2-3 litres of water, wee it all out and then couldn't sleep because my heart was racing to much and I felt really on edge. I also felt slightly nauseous all of the time (probably contributed to the weight loss) and found that it made me fart a lot.
I'm going to try it again though, this time on a lower dosage just a few times a week to see how that goes.

I was on Spironolactone (12.5 daily) . Hindsight, almost immediately I began suffering from ED. Mixed symptoms thought at the time from Diabetes T2 . Was also on Ace Inhibitors, Digoxin, Ibuprofenm Furosemide. After 18 months suddenly developed MAJOR heartburn and EXTREMELY sore nipples. When GP was told of new symptons, was immediately told to halt Spiron. I have been off of it for 4 months now, but STILL experience nipple pain. Can anyone tell me how to stop the pain ?? I was told that it would go away, but I am starting to wonder. I am a 58 yo WM, 5'7, 250# . My chest has increased 2 'cup' sizes at least. Would like to find out how to reverse these unwanted effects.
